Ramses Bekkenk wint "The Munga" in een recordtijd!

Ramses Bekkenk heeft deze week in Zuid-Afrika een absurd bijzondere rit gereden! Hij startte in de Bloemfontein in 'The Munga' en hij is gefinished in Wellington.
Recordtijd!
Naast de bijzondere rit in Zuid-Afrika, heeft Ramses Bekkenk de pittige rit ook nog eens in een recordtijd gereden. De rit van 1074km moest binnen vijf dagen afgelegd worden. Ramses Bekkenk legde deze rit, met enorm veel tegenwind, af in 50 uur en dertig minuten!
Een bijzondere race
Wat een geweldige prestatie. Ramses Bekkenk kijkt op een bijzondere race terug; "Ik heb enorm naar deze wedstrijd, die net als Drenthe 200 een ‘semi-unsupported’ race is, uitgekeken. Even leek ziekte vlak voor het NK marathon roet in het eten te gooien maar gelukkig was ik toch op tijd hersteld om me goed op deze wedstrijd voor te bereiden voor zover dat mogelijk is. Je wordt namelijk altijd met zaken als honger, kou, dorst en slaap geconfronteerd op momenten die je niet kunt plannen. Daarnaast lag ik al heel snel alleen aan de leiding waardoor je onderweg geen gezelschap hebt en dat maakt het mentaal ook erg zwaar. Gelukkig stond mijn moeder Jolien onderweg op veel posten voor de nodige morele ondersteuning. Voor mij een hele eer om deze race nu op mijn naam te hebben staan’.
